The Ellinikon — 6.2 Million m²

The Challenge

LAMDA Development records every phase of The Ellinikon — Europe's largest urban regeneration project — generating tens of thousands of videos. The total archive was expected to exceed 300 TB within a few years.

Eight external hard drives held 60 TB and hundreds of thousands of clips with no unified catalogue, no access controls, and no secure way to share footage with internal teams or 3rd-party agencies. The team estimated 80–100 TB of new footage per year going forward — making the status quo completely unsustainable.

"We needed a simple and secure solution for the viewing, searching, retrieving, sharing, and editing of these videos in a highly efficient and cost-effective way." — George Rossiades, Systems Operations & Infrastructure Senior Manager, LAMDA Development.

The Solution

After a competitive RFP, LAMDA Development selected LCM Go Cloud — an Athens-based AWS Advanced Consulting Partner — who presented a functional proof-of-concept alongside their proposal, not just slides.

LCM Go Cloud designed a microservices architecture on AWS that maximised scalability, durability, and security. AWS Snowball migrated the existing 60 TB without touching the network. Amazon S3 stores all footage with 11-nine durability. AWS Elemental MediaConvert automatically transcodes every upload, and Amazon CloudFront delivers video globally at low latency — all behind a custom web portal where any authorised user can search, retrieve, and share in seconds.

"It used to take more time to find and share material. Now it's very easy — quickly and efficiently through the media management platform." — Panagiotis Charalampous, Multimedia Content Senior Associate, LAMDA Development.

"
LCM Go Cloud work on a very human scale. If you need someone, you can reach them, and they listen. This was something I looked forward to working on every day.
